Biomaster™ Antimicrobial Technology
Dycem® products all incorporate the advanced antimicrobial solution, Biomaster. Proven to be effective against the growth of bacteria, fungi, mold, and other microorganisms, Biomaster helps Dycem mats facilitate cleaner and safer products, processes, and environments.
Biomaster is skin-safe and food-safe. It is stable and non-leaching, making it suitable for healthcare, food, and liquid products. It contains no nanotechnology. Biomaster has been independently tested to ISO 22196 and is registered with the Biocidal Products Regulation (BPR) in the UK and Europe.
How does Biomaster work?
Biomaster is an antimicrobial additive that uses silver ion technology to proactively inhibit and disrupt the growth of microbes. Independently tested in over 2000 applications, silver ions have demonstrated their effectiveness in reducing microbial growth by up to 99.9%. Biomaster stays active for the life of the product, providing Dycem surfaces with 24/7 antimicrobial protection.
Biomaster has 3 modes of action:
- Biomaster binds to the cell wall of an organism, disrupting and inhibiting growth.
- Biomaster interferes with enzyme production, stopping the cell from producing energy.
- Biomaster interrupts the cell’s DNA, preventing replication.
Biomaster is effective against microbes including E. coli, Salmonella and Listeria.
Dycem® Does it Better with Biomaster
Unlike other antimicrobial solutions, Biomaster is not a coating that diminishes over time. It is distributed throughout the polymeric composition and is effective for the life of the product. With Biomaster, protection from the spread of microbial contaminants is achieved.
Dycem mats are ideal for controlling contamination from microbial concerns at the floor level across a range of diverse applications. Sterile settings like hospitals, healthcare, or pharmaceutical manufacturing, as well as other high-risk environments such as manufacturing and packaging for food and personal care products, all benefit from improved microbial control with Dycem mats.
